ON THE ISSUES

Lower Taxes & Smaller Government

Lower taxes and smaller government are essential ingredients for a thriving, vibrant culture and economy.

When freed from excessive regulation and inappropriate taxation (especially when there’s already a budget surplus in Nashville), Tennesseans become more empowered to use their talents in pursuit of their dreams. This greatly benefits the families they love, the businesses they build, and the communities they serve.

Like our forefathers, I believe that Americans are intelligent, resourceful, and capable people who don’t need the “help” of an overreaching, oversized government in order to succeed. More often than not, Big Government causes far more problems than it claims to solve, and many of the problems it tackles are the result of its meddling in the first place.

The people of District 70 don’t need more taxes and bigger government flowing from Nashville. We need less.

Defending The Second Amendment

Restoring and protecting our second amendment right to bear arms is paramount to the safety and security of the people of Tennessee. Without this fundamental freedom, we are stripped of the ability to protect ourselves and our families.

The following quote by Thomas Jefferson sums up fairly well how I feel about the second amendment right to bear arms:

“What country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms.”

Local Control Of Education

There is no greater responsibility than training children to become happy, healthy, and productive adults.

Each child is an individual with specific talents, interests, strengths, and weaknesses. The needs of our young people are not well served by systems designed and controlled by massive beurocracies headquartered far away from the children they claim to serve. The needs of our children are far better understood and far better met at a local level.

We must resist the “one size fits all” approaches to education epitomized by programs like Common Core.

We must restore local control of our children’s education.

Protecting The Unborn

Human life begins at conception. Every single life, no matter its age, is precious and deserves full protection under the law.

We must lovingly but firmly confront and correct the myths and lies that prop up the abortion industry in Tennessee and across America.

Abortion is murder.

Period.

Protecting Marriage & Family

The God-ordained institution of marriage is an essential cornerstone of culture and civilization. It has been purposefully and beautifully designed as the unique joining of one man with one woman.

I will do everything within my power to protect the sanctity of marriage in Tennessee.

Tackling The Opioid Crisis

Opioid dependence and abuse in Tennessee has reached a critical level. It is vital that we make every effort to tackle this problem head on.

For my part, I pledge to work alongside healthcare providers, law enforcement, and anyone else with a role in dealing with this deadly situation.

Honoring The 10th Amendment

“The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

~ 10th Amendment to the United States Constitution

I completely agree with this.
